It’s been so incredibly hot here, that I barely want to move! Of course, sunburn doesn’t help (why wont it just go away?!). Thanks for the responses to my last post, I’m feeling better already! I’ve done a lot of cross training and upper body lifting, since my sunburnt stomach has prevented any kind of ab work. But my arms and shoulders are getting stronger now, which is always good.
Okay, now a couple of new things from this week.
foodie-discovery: the best summer breakfast ‘in a pinch’. With the crazy heat and humidity, there was no way I was going to turn on the stove for a hot breakfast – and I forgot to prepare overnight oats! This concoction resulted.
I don’t even know what to call it! How about…
Summer Recovery Breakfast Bowl
- 1 crumbled unsalted rice cake – I wanted cereal but not granola…
- the last bit (1/4cup?) of my GoRaw granola (sprouted buckwheat and flax)
- 1 scoop sun warrior – peanut flour would be
- 1/2 overripe sliced banana
- large ‘sprinkling’ of cinnamon
- 2 T chia seeds (added later, because I almost forgot!)
with unsweetened vanilla almond milk, of course! Just enough to wet all the ingredients and mix easily.
All mixed up, it had the consistency of a crunchy, cold porridge…
and it may look funny, but it tasted amazing! Seriously, crumbled rice cakes make really good last minute cereal, and are so versatile.
Actually I think that will be my only new find this week. I’ve been rather unoriginal and camera-lazy, after my amazing trip last week. For those of you who may have missed it:
