This weekend was insane. I’m not going to go into details, because it involves lots of complaining about work and people, and that is not what this blog is all about. Instead, some positive things that have been on my mind lately.
1. I think I’ve finally quit my really awful chewing gum habit. It was a few weeks ago, I just decided that when my supply ran out, I was going to stop buying more. I couldn’t taper off, so decided to just go cold turkey. I’m really happy I did this, because chewing gum was the one of the most hypocritical things I had in my life (along with hair dying). I generally stay away from artificial sweeteners and additives, and gum has all of that. For a while, I thought that it was the only way to get rid of my never-ending urge to eat, but it’s been over two weeks, and I haven’t caved.
2. I need to make energy and protein bars to take to work and travel. I’ve spent way too much money on these guys.
While they are incredibly delicious, have no ‘dirty’ ingredients and most flavors are vegan, they do cost a pretty penny. With a work schedule like the one I’ve had lately, I need good, whole, nutritious on-the-go foods. I’ve made granola and protein bars before, but I have yet to perfect a recipe of my own.
3. With the amount of hours I’m getting at work, I’ll be able to afford lots of amazing food when I live on my own again! Like nut butters, and really amazing fresh, local, seasonal produce! Like the contents of this delicious summer salad.
arugula, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, TJ’s savory baked tofu, fresh strawberries (green city market!) and balsamic. Sweet, savory, refreshing and filling.
4. Hey, non-blogger readers! I would love to see some of your comments on here as well, don’t be afraid or ashamed or anything 🙂
I hope your weekends were more exciting than mine, but now for a new week – starting off with early morning pilates class!
